About Me
Everything I bring to this practice I've lived first.
My Story
I grew up in a house ruled by rage and instability. I learned early that my worth was conditional. Perfection felt like the only way to stay out of trouble in a world where the goalposts were always moving. When I fell short, I went inside and blamed myself.
That inner critic followed me into swimming. My fear-based motivation drove results early on — Division I scholarship, Olympic Trial qualifier — but it wouldn't last forever.
It hit on my 22nd birthday. It was my senior year of college. Things were fine on paper. I had a long-term girlfriend, a job lined up, and I was captain of the swim team. But inside, I was numb. My performance had fallen off, my identity was crumbling, relationships were fracturing, and I had no idea how to address any of it.
That morning, my girlfriend, now wife, told me I needed help. I started seeing a sports psychologist and everything began to shift.
That wasn't the beginning of the work. But it was the moment I decided to approach my life differently. Seven years later, I've worked with four therapists, four coaches, and a collection of mentors. I've studied psychology, philosophy, mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and relational skills through my own lived experience and experimentation. I've started businesses, traveled to 20 countries, transformed my relationship with athletics through jiu-jitsu, and started writing.
I rebuilt my sense of self from the ground up. I learned what was actually driving me — the perfectionism, the need to be right, the fear, the harsh self-judgment — and I did the slow work of loosening those patterns.
I still am.
I do this work now because I've lived what happens when a man loses his way; when he doesn't have the tools or the courage to navigate the challenges inside. I've seen what that does to men and what that does to the people around those men. I do this work now because I've been there.
Beyond the Work
Having spent years as a competitive swimmer, I now train in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and judo. I enjoy exploring New York's food scene with my wife, going on walks with my dog, reading, meditating, and listening to music. I love life in Brooklyn and I value travel and getting out into nature whenever I can.
